Thebe Unico Cares for Girls
Nerusha Singh
There is a Chinese Proverb that says “If you want to go fast, walk alone. If you want to go far, walk together”.
Thebe Unico comprises of 30 staff members in total – 11 of which are women. As part of Women’s Month the Thebe Unico ladies heeded a call to contribute to the Caring4Girls initiative supported by Thebe Ya Mosadi.
The Thebe Unico ladies raised a total of R2 229 which was enough to purchase 56 x 4 packs of 10 sanitary towels. We are delighted that our modest contribution will impact almost 224 girls.
At Thebe Unico we are committed to building communities and helping those who are less fortunate than we are. Giving is our way of showing gratitude for a life full of blessings. In much the same fashion as Thebe Unico, the women of the Thebe Group came together in full force to support the initiative at the Women’s Day celebration. They were able to raise 400 sanitary towel donations to be contributed to the Caring4Girls initiative.
Donations are still being collected and can be delivered to Thebe House in Rosebank on a continuous basis as we aim to debunk the stereotypes of the natural journey towards womanhood.
Just like Anne Frank, we believe that “no one has ever become poor by giving’’and that there is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.
