Club Travel gears up Cape Town’s oldest soccer club
When the request for sponsorship came through from the Spenston AFC, Club Travel immediately fell in love with their story. The soccer club, the oldest in Cape Town, is based at William Herbert sports round and are affiliated to Cape District Football Association. The players are from the underprivileged gang ridden areas of the southern suburbs. The club becomes a safe haven for young people, taking them away from crime and drugs and encouraging them to spend time in sports and personal development. The club currently has 88 players who range from the age group of 6 to 16. Club Travel was able to sponsor the junior team with training equipment such as shin guards, agility ladders, 30 soccer balls and water bottles amongst other equipment.
