Celebrating South Africa!
On the 24th of September we’ll be celebrating Heritage Day. It’s a joyous day where every South African will celebrate where they come from as well as each other’s heritage – we will look beyond or quarrels and embrace our uniqueness. It’s a day that we celebrate the true meaning of being the Rainbow Nation.
We all have different reasons to celebrate being part of this great nation and we, here at Thebe, want to share some of the things (in no particular order) that make us proud to call ourselves South African, (we only listed our top 30 things – one for every day of September).
- Our language – from eish to lekker to ser-i-as to aikona
- Braai – it’s not a BBQ, it’s a braai and you do it with wood
- Boerewors – the smell, the taste, the juiciness, the everything
- Rooibos – no other country in the world produces Rooibos tea
- The big five – need we say more
- The Cape Floral Kingdom – of the six types of floral kingdoms, fynbos only exists in SA

Do you agree with our list or do you have anything to add? Take a moment this Heritage Day to think about why you are grateful to be part of this wondrous nation, called South Africa.
