Cape Point and Thebe Tourism Scoop Kudu Award
CAPE TOWN, November 2016 – The Cape Point Partnership with Thebe Tourism has been awarded the Business Partner of the Year award at the 12th SANParks Kudu Awards ceremony.
The Kudu Awards, supported by Total SA and First National Bank, recognises internal and external stakeholders for their contribution to making South African National Parks the custodian of choice for protected areas. The Business Partner of the Year award recognises the performance of Cape Point’s Partnership with Thebe Tourism in growing SANParks business and exceeding targets in the 2015/16 financial year.
The Thebe Tourism Group became the sole owner of the Cape Point Concession in November 2015. Located in the Cape of Good Hope section of Table Mountain National Park, Cape Point is recognised as one of South Africa’s key tourism attractions.
“We are very proud to be honoured alongside some of South Africa’s most deserving conservationists. For TTG, the award confirms that we have a hardworking team that has been doing amazing work on site,” says Thebe Tourism Group CEO Jerry Mabena.
“The award is made even more significant as it comes in the year that Cape Point concession itself celebrates 20 years of operation. We look forward to continuing our journey with SANParks, and remain committed to our vision of a transformed and sustainable tourism sector.”
SANParks CEO Fundisile Mketeni said: “These awards honour people for their meaningful contributions to the protection of the environment through various means which reflects society’s admirable social responsibility – giving meaning to the SANParks vision of ‘A Sustainable National Parks System Connecting Society’.”
Thebe Tourism Group is the oldest black-empowered South African tourism group and continues to play a significant role in the development and transformation of the tourism sector.
