Thebe Health Group showing off talent
by Rudzani Monyai & George Mamaila
Thebe Health Group (THG) companies pride themselves in sourcing and utilising their talent pool to the fullest. This is evident in the number of employees, some of which were recruited to the call centre, who have grown into member support consultants (MSC), who service members on sites.
But THG also boasts an artistic streak, as it’s filled with exceptionally talented people, some of which have already given us a taste of what they can do. Remember the Freedom Day drawing of two hands breaking off the chain? That was our very own Simphiwe Tshabalala (not the soccer player stunt double)! He works as a clerk in our mailroom and has promised us more masterpieces. Simphiwe explained that he’s been passionate about art since the age of seven, and even enrolled at Damelin to study graphic design. Unfortunately, he was unable to finish due to dire circumstances.
Who can forget the Worker’s Month (May) cartoons in the corridors that sprinkled smiles on our faces? Thokozane Kunene aka “TK”, our maintenance and housekeeping officer, showed his handiness with the pencil on those pieces. He explained that his love for pencil drawings started at the early age of nine years young and that he draws inspiration from what’s happening around him and his audience. In this way, it makes it easy for them to interpret his drawings.
This past June, better known as Youth Month, we looked to the talented Mbali Thabethe for her masterful interpretations and beautiful pieces to adorn our walls.
This is just another way that THG is conceptualising, portraying, communicating and reinforcing some of our messages to employees while aiding others showcase their talents.
All we can say is, expect to be entertained and informed at the same time.
